When you start your journey you will also have a unique view of Torremolinos, Fuengirola and even Gibraltar and the African coast.
Benalmádena and other parts of the province of Malaga offer essential hiking routes for ecotourism and enjoy the scenery.
Several hiking routes are available for you to reach different destinations, visited by countless tourists. Here we show you the main hiking routes in the province of Malaga.
This scenery is one of the most outstanding and one of the most delightful for visitors to the province of Malaga. At one time in history this viewpoint was under the sea, but little by little the landscape gradually rose to form this beautiful peak from where you can see the blue of the sea.
This path has routes marked with green or yellow lines that allow families and groups of friends not to get lost while making the journey. The highlight of it all are its rocks of various shapes, which resemble a dinosaur, a camel and a flowerpot.
Behind the neighbourhood of El Palo, in Malaga, is Mount San Anton, which has two 500-metre high mountains. The trails can be accessed by walking from the beach or by car from the built-up streets at the foot of the mountain.
It is an easy route where you can go with your children or toddlers, who will be motivated to get to know Malaga from the viewpoints of this peak.
It is on a route that is close to the road that goes to Benahavís and just to the right you can see the Guadalmina river. It is important to note that near the access to the path there is a wooden bridge to enter and a small car park to leave the car.
The path started to be used in 2014 thanks to the wooden bridge that was built. Once you cross it, you can only go up a single path and there visitors will come across the irrigation channel that gives the route its name.
It has a distance of 3.5 kilometres and in some sectors it is necessary to cross footbridges and bridges. Throughout the entire route it is possible to appreciate the impressive views of the place and the Guadalmina basin.
The return journey should be made along the same path, but it is advisable to stay and contemplate the waters of the river. If you follow the path you can reach some wells known as Charco de las Mozas, a completely natural pool with crystal clear water.
It has the particularity of being a route of 9 kilometres long and it is close to the villages of Jimera Estación and Estación de Benaoján. It is located near the bridge over the river Guadiaro and once it is crossed, hikers will be able to see all the signs and location maps to start the route.
Along the way you can see the river fall and a waterfall that produces a spectacular noise. For the first kilometre, shade is a scarce resource and for this reason walkers are advised to be equipped with plenty of hydration and sunscreen.
As the route progresses it is possible to observe the tributaries that feed the Guadiaro River from both sides of the valley.
This is a coastal path that forms part of the Malaga coastline and its starting point is located at the El Candado club. The route is mostly flat and from there you can see the bay of Malaga.
